Can i claim a private health insurance rebate at Tailored Health?

Yes, you can claim your health insurance rebate on the spot using HICAPS. The only cost to you will only be any gap that may apply for the service AFTER your private health fund rebate.

Do i need a referral to attend Tailored Health?

No.  We have many private patients that simply choose to ring us and book an appointment.  Private patients can make private health insurance claims on the spot with HICAPS and do not need a referral.
If your consultation is regarding a Workers Compensation or Third Party claim, we will need a referral from your Doctor to enable our team to treat you under the relevant scheme.
In addition, if you are eligible for Medicare or DVA rebates, your Doctor will need to set up a referral with the appropriate paperwork prior to your initial appointment.

Do you have Credit card facilities available?

Yes.  We have full EFTPOS and Credit Card facilties.

What is the difference between an Exercise Physiologist and a Personal Trainer?

Personal Trainers are taught how to train the healthy population and can receive their qualifications by completing an 8 week course. An Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university qualified allied health professionals, having completed a minimum of 4 – 5 years of tertiary education meeting stringent criteria for accreditation through Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) – including a minimum of 500 hours of work experience. AEPs are specialists in the field of exercise and prescribe clinical exercise programs for the treatment and prevention chronic conditions and injuries.

Do you take on Work Placement Students?

Yes. We take university placement students throughout each year as we feel it is valuable upcoming Allied Health Professionals to better understand, learn and gain further experience in their chosen field of expertise.

What do I need to bring and wear to my appointment?

Relevant reports or findings and potentially referral (from your doctor). Wear comfortable clothing and closed toe walking / exercise footwear.

Is there any public transport available nearby?

Yes there is public transport available nearby. With the help of Gardiner’s Creek bicycle and walking track we have bus stops a short distance away on High Street Road, Highbury Road and Warrigal Road.
Jordanville Train Station, Glen Waverley line is a 24min walk away.
Elgar/Burwood Hwy tram stop, 75 tram, is a 20min walk away.
There are also taxi’s around to help accommodate your transport needs plus the additional option of home visits if traveling is not an option.

Where do I park when I attend Tailored Health?

Simply park along either side of the street marked with 2 hour parking. Disabled allocated parking is available close to our entrance ramp.

What does an initial assessment involve?

A discussion about:
  • Medical history and what physical activities you have done or currently participating in.
  • Short and long term goals specific to the condition and/or injury
  • A plan to achieve goals
Followed by an assessment of baseline measurements specific to injury and or health condition. A tailored plan for achieving the established goals typically using home exercise programs, small group classes or hydrotherapy.

What will further consultations involve?

Implement personalized exercise program, close guidance of exercises to ensure correct and safe technique, ongoing advice regarding self-management strategies, exercise progression and goal setting. Incorporation of other services offered including various group programs.
